Morocco

Morocco is the home of a large Jewish community, it outnumbered, in the mid 1950s, the Jewish communities of all the Arab world combined

Casablanca has a considerable number of Jewish neighborhoods populated by spiritual Jews who maintain the same traditions and religious practices as their ancestors. The most well known district is the one near the Grand Boulevard of Anfa where the famous Italian actress Sofia Loren filmed her latest movie "The Sun".

Fez is the spiritual city of Morocco, which played a significant role in the Jewish education. It was the base of one of the most influential Talmudic schools of all times, that of Rabbi Isaac Al Fasi, in 1160. The adjacent synagogues of its Mellah house furniture and antiques of great value.

Marrakesh is known as the Pearl of the South. The Jewish community has thrived there since 1603. The Saadians granted a big area of land to Mellah. Jewish neighborhoods and synagogues still exist.
